FOUND AT ROTORUA

PATIENT WHO ESCAPED FROM ROTO ROA

arrested by police

A patient who escaped from Roto Roa Island recently was arrested yesterday at Rotorua.

How he made his way to the mainland is not known, but, after reaching it, he travelled to Rotorua. On March 13, R. O. Cooltson was reported missing from the island, and it was thought that he had been drowned. A raft of tins, which had been made and used by Cookson, was later found on the beach. It is hardly probable that Cookson used the raft in making his way to the mainland. He could have used it to negotiate the narrow stretch of water to Ponui Island. After crossing that island he could easily have crossed the remaining narrow channel to the coast. Cookson will b® returned to the island from Rotorua.
