Imposts for Easter Handicap Will Now Intrigue Speculators
TYISCUSSIONS the next few days, financial and otherwise, in racing -L" circles in the province (and out) will be focussed upon the A.R.C
Easter, Handicap, to be decided at Ellerslie next Saturday week, Easter Saturday. It is not intended to wade right through the handicaps published yesterday, but “Early Bird’’ has divided the horses into sections, based upon the imposts to be carried, with a final reduction to half a dozen. Those that appeal under this idea are the following: Over 9.0 —Paganelli 9.6, Pegaway 9.3. Prom 8.0 to 9.o—Branson 8.5, Joy King 8.5, Gascony 8.5, Bright Glow 8.4. From 7.7 to 7.l3—Great Charter 7.13, White Fang 7.11, Awarere 7.8, Lady Quex 7.7. From 7.1 to 7.6—1 n the Shade 7,6, Seatown 7.6, Amor 7.5, Mosque 7.1. On minimum, 7.0 —Vallar, Tea Time, Mervette, Maori Boy, Oliinemuri, Liaison, Lorient 11. In the above sorting-out one had perforce to include no less than 21 horses. It couldn’t be got over with less. The problem may be a wee bit easier of solution when the acceptances are posted next Friday evening, but in the meantime half a dozen that could really be fancied are (in order of the handicaps): PAGANELLI PEGAWAY BRANSON BRIGHT GLOW IN THE SHADE VALLAR It is fully expected that all of these will arrive at the post next week, unless something unforeseen occurs to make necessary a rearrangement of owners’ plans.
