IRIS RETURNS
DELAYS IN COOK STRAIT
Having completed her cable-repair work in Cook Strait, and having laid many miles of new cable, the Pacific Cable Board’s repair ship Iris returned to Auckland at 6.30 a.m. yesterday, and took up her old position off Devonport. Work in Cook Strait was by no means straightforward, the vessel being held up by boisterous conditions for a considerable time. Delay was also caused by the picking up of a broken section of cable.
