WANDERLUST REFITTED
LEAVING AUCKLAND SOON SOUTH SEA ISLES VISIT After having undergone extensive alteration and general overhaul, the American pleasure yacht, Wanderlust, will leave Auckland for Fiji, via Russell and northern bays in two or three days’ time. The 'Wanderlust was up on the slip for a fortnight, during which time her keel was enlarged, the rudder lowered to suit the keel, and the vessel cleaned and painted and her tackle overhauled. The valves in her engine were also ground, and a new mainsail and foresail supplied by John Burns and Company. She came down off the slip on Friday last. It is Mr. H. S. Bissell’s intention to spend about two weeks cruising round Russell and northern waters prior to making his final departure for Fiji. From there the Wanderlust will proceed to Samoa and Tahiti, calling at Rurutu in the Austral Group, where Mr. Bissell desires to obtain calcium flare photographs of a large cave containing beautiful crystalline formations. “As far as I can ascertain, the only white men who have seen this cave are Captain Brisson and a member of the crew,” said Mr. Bissell. It is Mr. Bissell’s intention to keep the Wanderlust for another two or three years, as he anticipates making trips in her to Alaskan waters, and also around the Gulf of California. He will eventually sell the yacht and purchase a larger boat in which he can have a photographic dark room, and a radio cabin.
