GENERAL MACKINNON DEAD
(Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) LONDON, Monday. The death has occurred of General Sir Henry Mackinnon, in his 77th year.
The late General Sir Henry Mackinnon was born in December, 1852. He entered the Army in 1870 and became adjutant of the second battalion Grenadier Guards. He was military secretary to the Governor of Malta, 1884-5; private secretary to the Governor of Madras, 18S5-7; colonel, 1889; assistant adjutant-general, home district, 1893 -8; served in South Africa, 1900; colonel commanding City of London Imperial Volunteers, 1899-1900; Director of Auxiliary Forces, 1905-8; Director-General of the Territorial Force, 1908-10; commander-in-chief, western command, 1910-15; and Director of Recruiting at the War Office, 1916. He was created a Knight Commander of the Victorian Order, 190 S.
