Mr. N. H. Newcombe, who has beer on a*tour of South Africa and England returned to Auckland this morning by the Ulimaroa from Sydney.

Lieutenant-Colonel F. Symon, Director of Artillery, arrived at Frankton Junction this morning by the Limited.

Mr. G. N. Goldie was a passenger from Wellington by this morning’s Limited.

Lieut.-Commander Hunter Blair R.N.. arrived from England this morn ing by the Ulimaroa.

Mr. G. D. Greenwood, of Christchurch, is visiting Auckland. He is staying at the Hotel Cargen.

Mr. H. Welsh, manager of White Island Products, returned to Auckland this morning by the Limited from Wellington.

Mr. G. Finn, president of the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association, who has been visiting Timaru and Wellington. has returned to Auckland.

The Bight Hon. J. G. Coates and Mrs. Coates arrived in Auckland last evening from Ngaruawahia. They are at the Grand.

Dr. C. A. Wayland, of California, and his daughter, Mrs. L. O. Kochor, arrived from Sydney on the Ulimaroa this morning. They intend to spend about 10 days in the Dominion.

Mr. F. D. Avery, of Michigan, U.S.A., and Mr. W. C. Stubbs, of Illinois, reached Auckland by the Tofua yesterday after a trip through, the Islands. They are guests at the Grand Hotel.

Commissioner James Hay, of the Salvation Army, reached Fremantle yesterday by the Oronsay. He is returning to New Zealand after attending the recent sessions of the Army High Council.

Dr. Kennedy, founder of the Marist Brothers’ movement in New Zealand and Australia, arrived by the Ulimaroa from Sydney this morning, after a visit to Australia. He will probably return to Wellington this evening.

Captain M. McKechnie, who is retiring after 25 years’ military service, was presented with a case of pipes by members of the 22nd Company of Auckland Senior Cadets at the Drill Hall last evening. The presentation was made by Company Sergeant-Major Marrit.

The Prime Minister, Sir Joseph. Ward, accompanied by the Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle, Minister of Internal -Affairs, left Wellington Saturday night for Invercargill, where the Prime Minister will be entertained by the local bodies of Southland. It is anticipated that 2,000 people will attend the function.—P.A.
