£675,000 POWER LOAN

FIRST £250,000 TO BE RAISED AUCKLAND BOARD’S MOVE Subject to the consent of the Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, the Auckland Power Board intends to raise £250,000 immediately. This was reported at a meeting of the board yesterday. Mr. W. J. Holdsworth presided. This will be the first instalment of the loan of £675,000 authorised at the recent poll. It is proposed to raise the £250,000 through the Australian Mutual Provident Society, interest to be at the rate of 5£ per cent. The debentures will be issued in Australia, interest payments ai d repayments of principal being made payable in Australia free of exchange to the board.
