GRAFTON BRIDGE TRAFFIC
ROADWAY TO BE WIDENED The City Council has adopted a scheme for the widening of Symonds Street at two places near the approaches to Grafton Bridge. The idea Is to widen the space between tlie safety zones and the kerbs, | so that two lines of cars may drive abreast easily. The alteration at the zone above the bridge will be effected by encroaching on the footpath on the reserve. Below the bridge, on the other side, the width will be achieved by setting j back the waiting-shed, and the foot- j path in front of it. Motorists who wish to turn to the ! left into Karangahape Road or Graf- j ton Bridge, as the case may be, will be required to keep in the traffic line next to the kerb. The outer line will be through traffic, and it will be the only traffic regulated by the traffic officer.
NEW SERVICE OFFICERS FOLLOWING AUCKLAND'S LEAD The South Taranaki Automobile Association lias appointed a service officer, and at the suggestion of the Southern body the A.A.A. has agreed to his engagement in Auckland for a month in order that he might become familiar with the methods by which the extensive local service has been built. The Wanganui Automobile Association has appointed a patrol officer and has approached the A.A.A. with the suggestion that his uniform might be practically identical with that used in Auckland. The Council of the A.A.A. has notified its approval of a standard uniform for all North Island patrols.
