JUDGMENT REVERSED

COMPENSATION FOR INJURED WORKER Press Association WELLINGTON, Monday. The Court of Appeal to-day reversed the judgment of Mr. Justice Smith in the case of Robert Davies v. Sir William Arrol and Company. Davies was injured while arranging a sling for lifting steel bars off a stack by a crane. The Judge held the company guilty of negligence and awarded Davies £570 damages. He also expressed the opinion that when negligence was proved against an employer the measure of compensation provided for by the Workers Compensation Act was not sufficient. After hearing argument the Court of Appeal delivered oral judgment. It allowed the appeal, with costs on the highest scale, and directed that the case be referred to the Lower Court to deal with the question of compensation under the Workers Compensation Act.
