“TOO BIG A BUDGET”
GENEVA LABOUR OFFICE CRITICISM BY BRITAIN (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) GENEVA, Saturday. Humbert Wolfe, the British Government delegate, criticised the yearly increase in expenditure. He said lie would abstain from voting, and Britain would hold herself free to take any action she thought fit. Following on this six of tlie workers’ delegates spoke ixi favour of the estimates on the ground that it was their duty to vote the funds necessary for the Labour Office in tlie interests of industrial peace. Mr. E. L. Poulton, general secretary of tlie National Union of Boot and Shoe Operatives, appealed to Air. Wolfe and to tlie employers’ delegates to reconsider fluff attitude, lie said Britain was required to provide only a:33,000, while the British Ministry of Labour spent XG6.000 on telephone** alone. All*. Wolfe and the employers’ delegales abstained from voting.
