QUEEN’S GIFT TO NURSE
LIGHT SALOON MOTOR-CAR The Queen has given to the Crathie (Aberdeenshire) District Nursing Association a small saloon car for the use of Miss Eggie, the district nurse. Her Majesty has always taken a deep interest in the affairs of the. association. Before leaving Balmoral last autumn she discussed with Miss Eggie —who includes the Royal estate in her area—details of her work During the winter Miss Eggie has a wide, lonely area under her charge.
NATIONAL MORTGAGE CO. FINAL DIVIDEND OF 7J. PER CENT. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 11 a.m. LONDON, Monday. The National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand, Limited, lias divisible £56,817 for the year. The reserve fund gets £IO,OOO ; carried forward, £15,567. There will be a final dividend making 7£ per cent, for the year and a bonus of 2s a share, tax free.

MINING NEWS ALBURN I A.—The manager reports: •‘The drive north on footwall branch of : the Orlando reef from the crosscut at the winze has been extended 4ft; a total of 84ft. The reef here averages sft wide and is a fine body of stone, carrying nice mineral blend silica and ruby silver. The rise on the hangingwall branch of the Sons of Freedom reef from the 70ft level has been risen 14ft; a total of 20ft. This branch averages Sin wide and looks very well for making gold. The country rock on both walls is of a splendid class, being interlaced with quartz stringers and mineral veins.” LUCKY SHOT. —The manager reports: “The pass and timbering of the main risfrom the low level was finished on Wednesday and a start was made on Thursday to rise above the intermediate level with two shifts on the run of gold in the main reef. The reef here shows a width of 3ft and gold is freely seen in the or. broken out. Also a start has been made with one shift to clean up the level to start operations on the dropper north of No. 2 winze. Tenders have been called for erecting a hopper at the mouth of the low level to receive the ore from the mine.”
