HEENEY’S HURT MAY END HIS FIGHTING CAREER
INFECTION DEVELOPS IN GASH THAT NEEDED FIFTEEN STITCHES (Australian and X.Z. rrcss Association > (United Service) NEW YORK, Saturday. An infection that may cause disfigurement has set in the deep wound which Tom Heeney received on the inside of his lip in the fight with von Porat. It may necessitate plastic surgery if it spreads further. His doctor says Heeney was ordered to go to bed after treatment at a hospital. The gash inside his lip extends from the base of the gum and required 15 stitches to close it after the bout. It is stated that it may cause Heeney’s retirement from the ring. VAN PORAT AND RISKO TO MEET NEXT MONTH (United Service) NEW YORK, Saturday. Otto von Porat, who defeated Tom Heeney, has been matched against Risko at Boston on April 5, in a bout of 10 rounds.
