Lieut.-Colonel Kenneth McCormick has been appointed assistant director of medical services in the Northern Command. Major A. N. McKelvey will take his place in command of the northern depot of the Medical Corps. Mr. A. F. Tunks, a member of the Tauranga Borough Council, announces that he is a candidate for the office of Mayor at the forthcoming municipal election. The present Mayor, Mr. B. Dive, is not seeking re-election. Mr. T. N. Lamboujne, M.A., chief inspector of schools "t Wanganui, 1 and formerly of Auckland, has been transferred to Wellington. He will take up his new duties after Easter. Mr. A. Crawford will succeed him at Wanganui. Mr. J. G. Barclay, of Omana, near Durgaville, who stood as the Labour candidate for the Kaipara seat at the Parliamentary elections, is to be a candidate for a seat on the North Auckland Land Board at the forthcoming election in May. The Hon. G. W. Forbes, Minister of Lands, has accepted an invitation, through the Kt. Hon J. G. Coates, to visit the Durgaville portion of the Kaipara electorate early in April, when he will inspect the Tangowahine settlement and any other land suitable for closer settlement.
