PLANK’S FINE SWIM
MILE RIVER RACE EVENTS AT HELENSVILLE The young Mount Eden swimmer. 13. Plank, added an important win to liis successes this season when, at Helensville on Saturday afternoon. he defeated a strong field in a one-mile race in the Kaipara River. As well as lining first place. Plank secured fastest time. W. Wilson, of Parnell, winner of the recent half-mile race at Melensville. received a medal for the fastest aggregate times in both races. Plank used good judgment and once he had a definite break on the field he forged ahead and won by 30 yards. X. K. Sylow, of Ponsonby. the breaststroke swimmer, and Wilson finished next. There were nine starters, including Dorothy Grant, of Grammar Club, who was fifth. About 110 Aucklanders raced in a carnival at the Domain Baths, Melensville, on Saturday evening. R.
