INTERCHANGE OF WORSHIP

SUGGESTION BY BISHOP QUESTION OF THE COMMUNION “I would like to see an interchange of worship. I can see no harm, but much good, in a man belonging to two or more churches at the same time.” This was the opinion of Dr. David, Bishop of Liverpool, voiced in the course of an address at the recent Student Christian Convention of Liverpool. The bishop is well known for his advocacy of an interdenominational exchange of pulpits. Following this out, his Lordship has permitted ministers of Nonconformist bodies to preach in the new Liverpool Cathedral. “Why should a man not go to worship here and there in order to show that he has a sense before God of the greatness of the Christian body to which he belongs?” asked Dr. David. The bishop added the qualification that he would not extend that interchange of worship to the act of communion. The case of inter-communion should be considered by itself.
