An extraordinary general meeting of the Auckland Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Club, convened by Mr. George H. Ambler, the club’s president, was held In the Y.M.C.A. during the week. The president informed the meeting that, as he had not received the books from the secretary, he was compelled to call a meeting to discuss the matter. Strong disappointment of the action of the secretary was expressed by the majority of the members present, as no apology or explanation had been received from him. Mr. Bust was given instructions to take what action he considered necessary for the recovery of the club’s books and property, etc. At the Kumeu Show, held during the past week, Mrs. Warren, Henderson, had a run of success, winning first, second and champion bird in show with White Leghorn hens: first Sussex cock, first and second Sussex hens; second Black Orpington cockerel; first White Runner drake; first White Runner duck; also champion duck in show. Mrs. Sydney A. Douglas was another fancier who was successful at the Kumeu Show, winning first and two seconds in Black Pekin bantams. ANSWER TO CORRESPONDENT D.N.T., Pukekohe.— The misshapen eggs may be the result of the gizzard pressing on the lower end of the oviduet or cloacal pouch. I am afraid there is not a cure. You might try isolating the offenders and giving each bird five drops of the tincture of iron perchloride in h teaspoonful of sweetened milk, once daily. The tonic cannot do any harm, .•i'.irl will, at any rate, brace tin.- birds and thus lead to the production of hard shells. When eggs are “humped”— having a bulge around the middle, and extra large—it generally means that when one egg bus been nearing completion a “runner up” has entered the pouch wliere the shell is deposited, and the two had joined forces. You might, in addition to the tonic, withhold mash and give the birds a mixture of oats arid wheat, say. two parts of the former to one part of the latter, bv measure. "Pleased to hear my notes have been of ! such valuable assistance to you.
