PERSONAL. —At the recent examinations the following have passed:—Mr. C. L. T. White, late Union Steam Ship Co., foreign-going master; Mr. J. U. Broadhouse of the Union Steam Ship Co., foreign-going first mate, square rigged; Mr. E. D. Johnston, of Sanfords, Ltd., master of fishing vessels.
TEKOA AT LONDON.—Cabled news has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company that the Tekoa arrived at London on Wednesday from Napier. She left Napier on February
SILVER SHELL ARRIVING.—The local branch of the Shell Company has been notified by radio that its oil-tanker Silver Shell is due at Auckland from Singapore on March 24. The vessel will be here for two or three days, and will then leave for Wellington. SURREY LEAVES HALIFAX. A cable message to the New Zealand Shipping Company reports that the Federal steamer Surrey left Halifax last Monday for London, en route from Auckland. The ship sailed from Auckland on January 29.
WEST COAST CARGO SERVICE.—The Northern Company advises that the Ronaki, after relieving the Arapawa on the West Coast service, left Onehunga for Hokianga and Auckland last night. The Arapawa, after undergoing overhaul and survey, is to leave Auckland for Hokianga and Onehunga on March 20.
R.M.S. NIAGARA.—The Royal Mail liner Niagara cleared Honolulu last Wednesday in continuation of her voyage from Vancouver to Suva and Auckland The vessel is due at Suva next Friday and at Auckland on the following Monday.
CANADIAN CONQUEROR SAILS. LatesdlS'ice from the local office of the Canadian National Steamships says that tbp Canadian Conqueror will sail irom New York, Boston and Montreal earls this afternoon. SOMERSET AT LON DON.—Cabled news has been received by the New Zealairn Shipping Company that the Federal steamer Somerset arrived at London on Wednesday from Wellington. The \es sel left Wellington on January 2b ioi London and West Coasts ports ot Great Britain. GREAT BARRIER TRIPS.—The Northern Steam Ship Company advises that the coastal vessel, Rangitoto, will make daj-Ijo-ht trips to Great Barrier Island, leaving Auckland at 8 a.m., on the following dates: —Thursday, March 21; Wednesday, March 27; Thursday, April 4. MAUI POMARE IN PORT.—Spedding, Ltd advises that the Government motorship’ Maui Pomare, which -arrived at Auckland this morning from Lyttelton and Wellington, and berthed at the King’s Wharf, sails at three o clock on Tuesday afternoon for Norfolk Island. KE E LUNG FROM NEW YORK.—With cargo from New York for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Wanganui, the A. and A. Line s> chartered steamer Keelung is due here to-morrow. She has been allotted a berth at the Prince’s Wharf. The New Zealand Shipping Company will act as tne local agents.
WAIHEMO REPORTS.—According to a radio message received by the local office of the Union Company, the transpacific cargo steamer Waihemo is expected to arrive at Auckland next Wednesday morning from the Pacific Coast. She is to berth at the Queen’s Wharf to unload the local portion of her cargo before proceeding to Wellington, Melbourne, and Sydney to complete.
ULIMAROA LEAVES SYDNEY.— Cable advice received by the local office of Huddart, Parker, Ltd., states that the intercolonial passenger steamer Ulimaroa left Sydney at noon yesterday with passengers, mails, and cargo for this port. She is due at Auckland on Tuesday morning, and will berth at the Central Wharf.
ROTORUA CLEARS SOUTHAMPTON. —Advice has been received by the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company that the liner Rotorua, after loading at London, cleared Southampton yesterday with passengers and mails for Auckland, Wellington and New Plymouth. Slie is expected here on April 19.
R EMU ERA HOME.—The local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company has been advised that the liner Remuera, which loaded in New Zealand, and sailed from Wellington on February 6 for Southampton and London, arrived at Southampton yesterday.
MAILS ARRIVING.—The Chief Postmaster advises that the Ulimaroa left Sydney at noon yesterday, and is due at Auckland on March 19 with 252 bags of English, Eastern and Australian iuail for Auckland. Also the R.M.S. Niagara, from Vancouver, is due at Auckland on March 25 with 349 bags of English and American mail for Auckland.
AO RANG I CLEARS SUVA.—Cable advice has been received by the local office of the Union Company that the R.M.M.S. Aorangi, en route from Sydney and Auckland, arrived at Suva at 11 a.m. yesterday, and left again the same afternoon for Honolulu, Victoria, and Vancouver.
TUTANEKAI COMING NORTH.—The Government steamer Tutanekai is en route from Wellington to Auckland, via East Coast lighthouses. The vessel will land material for a light at Honeycomb Point near the Xahau Rock (midway between Cape Palliser and Castle Point). She was being detained by adverse weather conditions on Tuesday, but Captain Bollons hopes to reach Auckland about next Friday.
WESTMORELAND TO LOAD.—The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Federal steamer Westmoreland is to commence loading at Dunedin to-day, and will leave there on Tuesday for further loading at Bluff. Timaru, Lyttelton, Wanganui. and Wellington. She is due at Wellington on March 27, and will sail on April 2 for Port Chalmers, to fill up. The Westmoreland will sail from the Otago port on April 6 for London, Avonmouth, Glasgow, and Liverpool, via Panama.
TOFU A ON MONDAY.—From the j Islands, the I‘uion Company's Island passenger steamer Tofua is due at Auckland early on Monday morning. She is to berth at the Queen’s Wharf. At 11 a.m. next Saturday the vessel sails from Auckland on her return trip to Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa. OTIRA FROM LIVERPOOL.—The ! Shaw, Savill. and Albion steamer Otira i is due at Auckland at midnight from j Liverpool. To-morrow morning she j berths at the Prince’s Wharf to unload the local portion of her cargo under the ! agency of L. D. Nathan and Co., before proceeding to Wellington, Lyttelton, and ! The Anchor Company’s vessel Regulus is due at Onehunga on Sunday to load for Nelson and West Coast ports. She leaves on Monday. The Hauturu is to arrive from Raglan and Kawhia to-night, and leaves on Monday at 4 p.m. for the same ports, and Waikato Heads.
