The track was in perfect condition and the attendance fairly good. HIGH-WEIGHT HANDICAP Of £260; 11 miles. 6 ABERFELDY, 10.4 .. 1 3 ELICIT, 9.10 0 4 BREAK O’ DAY, 9.13 !! 3 Scratched.—Nucleus, Imarosebud. Won by a head, two lengths between second and third. Time, 2.11.1. Mister Gamp was favourite for the first race, the High-Weight Handicap. Aberfeldy led along the back at a slow pace and entering the straight was followed by Elicit. Break o’ Day and Mister Gamp. Elicit and Aberfeldv fought a close finish. Aberfeldy winning by a head, with Break o’ Day two lengths away third, and Mister Gamp a good fourth. NEW ZEALAND ST. LEGER Of £750; 12 miles 2 CONCENTRATE 1 4 TOXEUMA 2 1— RED HECKLE 3 Scr.: The Warden. Won by a head, five lengths between second and third. Time, 3.3. Toxeuma led under a strong pull in the St. Leger from Red Heckle and High Falutin’ for five furlongs, when Young sent Toxeuma along, and he led into the straight by four lengths. Concentrate came from the back and gradually overhauled the leader to win on the post. Red Heckle was five lengths away, third, and High Falutin’ was six more lengths away, next, PLUNKET NURSERY Of £300; 5 furlongs. 1 EAGLET. 9.5 * 16—DISORDER, 7.0 * 3 NIGHT LAD, 8.9 3 * Dead heat for first. Valprae began well from a wide position and, with Coon Song, was prominent at tli© course proper. Eaglet took charge at the furlong and a-half from home and looked an easy winner, but Disorder finished fast from well back, and the pair dead-heated. Night Lad was three lengths away.
