CRICKET COACHES
Wellington May Seek Hendren’s Services WHAT OF AUCKLAND? (From Our Own Correspondent) WELLINGTON, Friday. Whether or not New Zealand has a : coach chosen from the English test team next season is now purely a matter of money. The Wellington Cricket Association is seriously considering engaging one of the English stars, and : is awaiting advice from Mr. Arthur Sims, of Canterbury, as to wliat terms would be acceptable. Tate and “Patsy” Hendren are the two men mentioned, and it is under- ! stood that the local association prefers ! Hendren as an all-rounder. The Auckland Cricket Association I will consider the question of the reengagement or otherwise of its coaches at a meeting next Tuesday night. An unofficial view is thus while Bowley and Langridge have given splendid service here, the future engagement of an English professional with strong bowling qualifications should be considered. It is urged that the presence of a bowler like Tate would considerably assist to improve the standard of play here, and develop the younger batsmen.
