EXTENSION OF ACTIVITIES COMMISSION HEARS EVIDENCE The commission appointed to inquire into tho desirability or otherwise of extending the present area under the jurisdiction of the Wiri Drainage Board sat at the Papatoetoe Town Hall yesterday. Mr. O. N. Campbell, Commissioner ! of Crown Lands, North Auckland Land Board, was chairman, the other mem- ! bers of the commission being Mr. A. W. A. Sweetnian, district valuer, and Mr. E. V. Blake. The morning sitting was occupied in hearing the objections of 13 settlers, occupying areas of land on the south- : eastern side of the Wiri Bridge. They : maintained that their land would receive no benefit from the proposed ac- ; tivities of the board. Tho additional areas which it is proposed to include in the special rating area include portions of Clendon Estate and Sunnyside Estate, up to the southern boundary of the Papatoetoe town district to Carruth Road. At the conclusion of the morning sitting the members of the commission, accompanied by members of the Drainage Board, visited the areas af- | fected. During the afternoon the members I of the board placed their case before j the commission. The report and reI commendations of the commission will be forwarded to Wellington.
