ROADS IN GOOD ORDER

RESULT OF DRY SPELL Following tho dry spell all the roads around Auckland are dry and in fair condition. according to the A.A.A. weekly report. Northward the reconstruction of the Lincoln highway and the putting off of a large number of men has left a surface that may be unsuitable fo-r heavy traffic for some time, the alternative being via Waitakere, where there is an all-weather route. All the clay surfaces are very hard, and a little rain will make them greasy. Paeroa-V.'aihi road has developed pot-holes, and is now seriously deteriorating. Rotorua, Taupo, Arapuni and National Park roads are all reported good. Improvements to surfaces and visibility are noticeable on the PokenoNgaruawahia road, where a considerable amount of work has been done since Christmas.
