£265 LOSS FOR YEAR
AUCKLAND A. AND P. ASSOCIATION MORE MEMBERS NEEDED A loss of £265 is shown for the 3'ear in the annual report and balance sheet of the Auckland Metropolitan Agricultural and Pastoral Association. Of this amount, the spring show accounts show a loss of £259. The report and balance sheet will be submitted at the annual general meeting of the association, to be held in the association’s council rooms on Friday, March 22. The report states that, to enable the show to function properly, it is imperative that the membership be raised to a parity with other metropolitan associations, which have approximately 2,000 members. The membership list to-day is nominally 900. J There was a slight falling off in the number of entries in some sections at the spring show, due to the number of shows held in the month of November within a few days of the Auckland fixture. Cattle were the predominant livestock class at the show, Auckland being the greatest cattle-raising district. in New Zealand, possessing about 1,181,184 head, or more than one-third of the total number in the Dominion. The chief class was the dairying type, of which Auckland carries just under half the total held in New Zealand. Sheep and pigs were also well represented.
During tho year the council has considered proposals to provide new show grounds which will provide space for all developmental work for j-ears to come.
