A FAMOUS SHIP.—The old barque-rigged corvette Calliope, which fought her way out of Samoa harbour on March 16, 1889—40 years ago to-morrow —in the teeth of one of the worst hurricanes known in the Pacific. She is still afloat, having been renamed Helicon, and is serving as an R.N.V.R. training ship on the Tyne.
