Hy “Xoon Call.” A SLIGHT reaction from flic exceptionally heavy trading of yesterday was registered on ’Change this morning vheu the volume of business fell to within a very small compass. A healthy tone is maintained in the market for all the better-class securities, however.

F LUCTU ATIONS Price movements shown in sales over the past 24 hours, when compared with the price at the time of the previous recorded sale, include;— Bank of New Zealand, fall of 3d, i Wilsons Cement, rise of 6d. Auckland Gas (ord.), fall of Id. In the banking group ;i further decline is registered in the market for New Zealand's. New South Wale’s are also weaker, with sellers at £sl, unsupported, compared with a market at that price at the time of the last recorded sale. Commercials of Australia are very firm, with further business reported from the South at 29s 4d. • * * Coal shares continue to attract a fair share of interest. Hikurungi’s show further strength, with buyers offering 7s 6d for the ordinaries. Renown and preference scrip is quietly active at 2s lid. Pukemiros are very firm at current prices. o * * Northern Steams provide the prin-

cipal feature of interest to the shipping group, buyers jumping 6d above par without bringing off a sale. Not since May last, when the market touched 15s 9d, has there been such a firm tone in prices for this scrip. * * * In the miscellaneous group. New Zealand Farmers’ Fertilisers show’ increased strength, with buyers’ offers of 21s bd failing to attract sellers. Wilsons Cements are also hardening. The market for Entricans is very weak, and sellers reduced to 16s are unsupported. Business yesterday afternoon: New Zealand Breweries (deb.), 26s 4d; Com. Bank of Australia, 29s 3d; New Zealand Insurance, 475; Auckland Gas, 24s 3d; New Zealand Breweries, 58s; Mount Lyell Mining, 42s 9d. * * * Business at this morning’s early call: On ’Change—Bank of New Zealand, 62s bd. Reported—Wilsons Cement, 40s 6d; New Zealand Breweries, 26s 4d. Business at mid-day: On ’Change— New Zealand Insurance, 475. Reported—Renown Collieries (pref.), 2s lid.
