Quality of Dairy Produce Defended
CRITICISM REFUTED BUSH DAIRYMEN MEET Press Associatioti PAHIATUA. To-day- j In view of the fact that reports from j the selling houses at Home almost in- j variably indicate that the quality of j both butter and cheese is being fully j maintained a large representative meeting of the Bush Hairy Companies' j Association to-day was of the opinion that certain criticism indulged in and . published throughout the Dominion was j not in accordance with fact, and was calculated to do great injury to the industry i The meeting unanimously recorded ; a protest against the publication by | members of the Exporters’ Association j of strictures upon the quality of butter j and cheese exported from New Zealand ; to Great Britain. A long discussion ensued regarding . the recently gazetted amendments to ; the dairy regulations affecting stan- j dardised brands of cheese. The feeling was expressed in some sections that the department had been too hasty in bringing in drastic regulations without first placing the proposals betore the industry. .. . ■ \ resolution was passed that tiie meeting was firmly of the opinion that the interests of the dairying industry . call for frequent changes in the pel - : sonnel of dairy instructors, and that j it be recommended to the department, that in future its district officers be j not detailed for service for practically tho whole oi their lifetime in one | district.
