NEW SCALE OF FEES?

ONE TREE HILL’S REVENUE FROM BUILDING The clerk Mr. A. reported to a meeting of the One Tree Hill Road Board last evening that building permit fees received for the II months from April 1, 1925, to February 28, 1929, amount to £ 206. On buildings valued up to £I,OOO the city fees were exactly double those charged in the One Tree Hill district Between £I.OOO and £ 1.400 up, the city fees gradually came down to the One Tree Hill scale until between £4,000 and £7.000 they were lower. As most of the One Tree Hill permits were for buildings below £2,000 in value it would be safe to say that, by adopting the city scale, the receipts from fees would increase by 70 to 80 per cent. The building inspector reported that fight permits to the value of £2,438 had been issued during the past fortnight

The clerk reported that the corrected annua] valuation of the district was now £153,733. an increase of £3.932 on the figures given on January 22 last. The addition of £I,OOO was the value placed on the Power Board’s mains and services previously not in the valuation roll. A report stated that an examination °f the water supply revealed the usual high standard, and a bacteriological examination of the filter carbon showed *h<it after seven years’ service it was giving satisfactory results.
