MINISTERS’ FRATERNAL

After tlie usual summer recess the first monthly meeting' ot' the Methodist Ministers’ Fraternal took place at Pitt Street Church this week. As this was the first meeting of the fraternal since the death of the late Hev. W. S. Potter, a resolution of veneration for the deceased, and of sympathy for the widow and daughter was adopted. The Kev. E. Drake was thanked for his services as Methodist representative on the IYA Church Service Committee, and re-elected. The Rev. G. B. Hinton, of Takapuna, who leaves next month to become superintendent of the Dunedin Central Mission, presented a report of his work during the past six months as Methodist chaplain to the Public Hospital and Infirmary. A resolution was adopted expressing cordial thanks for Mr. Hintons valuable , services as chaplain, and wishing him Godspeed in his new responsibilities in the Dunedin Mission An encouraging report was presented on behalf of St. John’s Church, Ponsonby, where a recent financial effort resulted in over £l5B being contributed, mainly by straight-out giving. In connection with the forthcoming May Synod and Winter School a committee consisting of the Revs. C. H. Laws, H. Ranston. A. Ashcroft, L. Drake, ±l. Ryan, W. Rowe and F. E. Headley was set up to make all arrangements.
