CROQUET TITLE DECIDED DOUBLES FINAL IN PROGRESS By two games to one Mrs. Davey (Remueraj this morning defeated Mrs. Bruce i.Remuera) in the final of the singles championship of the Auckland Croquet Association’s tournament. Tlio final was begun la&t evening, when both players who were very evenly matched won one game each. In the play-off this morning Mrs. Davey showed a superiority over her opponent and after a close match won the game and the championship. The , match was watched by a large number o* spectators. The final of the doubles champion- i ship between Mrs. Bruce and Miss Skeet and Mesdames Thompson and Cole was commenced on the Mount Hobson lawn at 11.43 a.m. and is ! expected to end this afternoon. Mrs. C. J. Schnauer, president of the Auckland Croquet Association, will present the trophies to the winners on the completion of the doubles final and will also present the shield for the club scoring the highest number of points in inter-club matches under the control of the A.C.A. The winner, the Onehunga Croquet Club, has a splendid record for the series and receives the trophy for the ninth year in sue- | t ‘ essior - YESTERDAY’S RESULTS | _The Auckland Croquet Association’s j -sth annual championship tournament was advanced to the finals in the sin- ! gles and doubles championship rounds yesterday. The handicap singles were also advanced a further stage, and to-morrow morning should see the completion of the tourney. All matches yesterday were played on the Remuera and Mount Hobson Clubs’ lawns. Following are results: SENIOR GRADE Championship Singles. Semi-finals: Mrs. Bruce beat Mrs. Gallalier; Mrs. Davey beat Mrs. Keyes. Handicap Singles.—Mrs. Hilton beat Mesdames A. White, Green and Robertson; Mrs. Thompson beat Mesdames Torrance, Iremonger and Langdale; Mrs. Brabant beat Mrs. Iremonger; Mrs. H. White beat Mrs. Finch and Mrs. Greenslade; Mrs. P. Hill beat Mrs. A. White and Mrs. Green and Mrs. Hilton; and won section C.
