BRITISH BANK RATE
(Australia}i and N.Z. Press Association) LONDON, Tuesday. The advance of the New York exchange rate to 4.55 J dollars to the pound has enabled the Bank of England to secure the bulk of arrivals of South African gold. This has lessened fears of an advance in the bank rate.
