WITH THE BOY SCOUTS
Commissioner W. J. Holdsworth has returned from his visit 1 to the South Island, where lie attended the last meeting of the Dominion Executive in Christchurch.
The inspection of Sea Scouts for the .lellicoe Trident contest has been postponed from March In until further notice owing to Commander Hall, R.N.. having met with an accident.
Council Rock, the newly-appointed scribe for the Mount Albert Troop, sends some interesting details of the troop’s last camp, when 20 boys in charge of Scoutmaster Lound and Assistant-Scoutmaster Hyde were under canvas at Helensvilie. Several eeling excursions were undertaken and the boys were guests at the tlelensville Picture Theatres during their stay in the district.
He continues: “Parades were resumed on February 8, after the Christmas spell, and the night was spent in patrol work of various kinds. On February 12 the troop had some dispatch running on Mount Albert. On the first Friday in March a pound night, was held and many visitors and Scouts are looking forward to another such enjoyable night."
Big Sea Water, scribe of the Calliope Sea Scouts, reports: “Last week-end, the members of the Calliope Sea Scout Company completed their preparations for the forthcoming examination for the silver Trident. At present they are the holders of this trophy. The company's gig is now ready for sea, and the greater part of the gear has been overhauled. Special instruction classes were held over the week-end, the boys all working well.”
