OPOTIKI NEWS

HOSPITAL BOARD WORK The Opotiki Hospital Board, at its last meeting, received a letter from the Department of Health regarding capital expenditure for the coming year. The board decided to apply for £SOO. That the board should co-operate with the Tauranga and Whakatane Boards in sending a delegate to the annual hospital boards’ conference was decided upon. The Tauranga delegate will represent all the three boards this year. A discussion as to the advisability of retaining the services of the Matakaoa nurse, whose district at present includes a portion of Opotiki County, took place, and it was decided to write to the Matakana Board stating that the board did not desire to continue the present arrangement.

A considerable number of outstanding fees are to be written off.
