HUNTLY BOWLERS’ SOCIAL

The bowlers’ annual social at Huntly j outshone previous years’ functions. j The president, Mr. Eitileproud, and his wife were in charge of the executive body. The Town Hall was festooned and garlanded with every conceivable colour, balloons, streamers, variegated coloured hats, etc., enhancing the carnival appearance. The various card and other competitions resulted: —Euchre: Women, Mrs. A. Teare, 1; Mrs. Satterswaithe, 2; booby, Mrs. Tom Pawson. Men: Mr. David Brown, 1; Mr. T. Elliott, 2; booby, Mr. J. Q. McGill. Art union; Miss Iris May Smith, 1, with 630; Miss Jessie Allan, 2, with 230. Monte Carlo: Miss Edna Mills and Mr. E. Tate. Hat parade: Mrs. George (Te Kauwhata), and Mr. J. Alder. Spot waltz: Miss Hazel Ralph and Mr. Wallace. Roulette waltz: Miss Copstick and Mr. Naylor. Guessing competition: Mr. Des Hall (191), 192 correct number. Mr. Frame Dittleproud presented the prizes. Mr. E. Holt and Mr. A. Gavin

were the M.C.’s. Mesdames Douglas, Dodds, Curnow and Walker the supper committee, and Mr. James Douglas had charge of the card tournament, in addition to which he was secretary of the function. The fund is for improvements to the pretty riverside greens at Huntly. This will benefit by over £SO. Senior-Constable Ingram supervised the art union drawings.
