NOTES FROM TE AROHA
TEA TIME IN GOOD ORDER HORSES FOR TAURANGA (Special to THE SUN) TB AROHA, Monday. The local horses for the Bay of Plenty meeting are Te Koroke, Queen Arch, Lady Mestor, Flying Tresses, Waltzer and Tanetoa. The Tauranga fixture is a popular one with local owners and trainers who generally have an enjoyable time there. , Every Day and Hunga-hunga have boon schooling very satisfactorily during the week. Both arc proficient hurdlers, and their chances in steeplechase events at Paeroa are not to be despised. To Race at Waikato Grand Arch is the name claimed for the Marble Arch gelding in Mr. Lipscy's stable. He is very solid in condition, and is executing his track work satisfactorily. His trainer expects to have him racing at the Waikato autumn meeting. G. A. Reid has Tharks and Crown Arch working well and both are executing light work. Tea Time is swinging along merrily in his track sprints. His condition is right and as he shows no sign of unsoundness, should run well at the Franklin meeting to-morrow. lie will probably be ridden in his engagement there by E. A. Keesing. Partial to Soft Tracks
R. Hines's team, consisting of King Lu, Queen Arch, Lady Mestor and Waltzer, are all progressing nicely. Three of the four are favourable to soft tracks and now that the sting is out of the ground, should soon be racing up to their form. Lady Mestor is steadily improving and is expected to show up at Paeroa and Tauranga. Among the two-year-olds is the General Latour—Lady Luck filly, trained by C. E. Mallowas. She shows signs of making good and is to be given her first start at the Ohinemuri meeting next week. Flying Tresses has undergone a really good preparation and should race prominently from this out. She is a very gross customer, but by dint of perseverance J. H. Wallace has fined her down. Now that she is not so heavily topped there is a much better rhance of the Romeo mare standing lip to her racing. It may be later in the autumn before Marble King is able to exhibit his best form, and he may require to be raced into condition. His track efforts at present are not convincing, but stiil, his improvement from now may be more rapid than expected.
