SCHOOL BOOKS FOR POOR

PROVISION BY DEPARTMENT Press Association NAPIER, Monday. A fact perhaps not generally known was made clear- to a deputation by the Minister of Education, Hon. H. Atmore, to-night, when complaints were voiced concerning the cost of school books. The Minister said for many years \i had been the policy of the department and education boards to provide free school books in necessitous cases. All that was required of parents was to approach the teachers, and on their recommendation books were supplied by the board, such books becoming the child's property and being not merely out on loan.
