CLEVDON DANCE THIS EVENING
The Clevdon Dances de Luxe are holding another dance this evening in the Dominion Hall. The hall, with its luxurious smoke lounge, is one of the best appointed in Auckland. Music is supplied by the Ambassadors’ Jazz Band. Emil Jannings will play the Mayor of a small Alpine village in his latest Paramount picture. “A Tale of the Alps,” soon to go into production.
Scantily clad, and in motor-coaches specially equipped to withstand the elements of the desert country, the Metro - Gol d wyn- Mayer unit filming “Thirst,” John (Gilbert’s forthcoming starring vehicle, are on location near Palm Springs, California, where much of the picture is being filmed. “Thirst * is being directed by "William Xigh. who recently directed Gilbert in “Four "Walls,” and Mary Xolan plays the leading feminine role.
| Edmund Burns, who just returned to I the United States after appearances in Australian films, has been added to the I cast of Henry King’s “She Goes to > War." Mr. Burns was seen in one of Australia’s most successful home-made . movies, “The Adorable Outcast.”
