POTATOES DEARER
PEACHES STILL CHEAP Good quality potatoes are scarce on the City Markets and a rise in rates has taken place. On the fruit benches, peaches continue to be cheap on account of the number of lines affected by ripe rot. Tomatoes have improved in value. Too many inferior apples are coming forward on the markets and good lines are bringing satisfactory prices. The shortage of oranges will be relieved when a large shipment of Californian Sunkist arrives to-morrow. The market for Te Kauwhata grapes is brisk. Bananas are selling well. In the vegetable market there are heavy supplies of most lines and the demand is fair.
