MINING NEWS

ALBURN I A. —The manager reports: • The drive north on the leader from the croscut east off the top of the rise on the dropper has been extended 6ft., a total of 35ft. There is no change in this face, the leader still being very small. On the rise on the main St us of Freedom reef from the drive north off the top of the rise on dropper, the work of making the connection with this rise to the 70ft. level is completed. As there were no passes open from the 70ft. level to Whau level, I am carrying this rise above the 70ft. level on the hanging wall branch of Sons of Freedom reef. This rise has been risen 6ft., total 6ft. The reef here averages eight inches wide, and the quartz looks very promising for making gold. I am pushing this rise on with three shifts. Repairs to main level have also been done this week, and a start has been made again to drive north on the footwall branch of the Orlando reef from the winze at our main level. The reef in this face is sft. wide, and a fine body of ore carrying mineral Mend, silic-a and ruby silver. Colours of gold are also seen , in the ore.’*
