SPORTS AT TE KOPURU (from Our Own Correspondent) DARGAVILLE, Sunday. Good weather prevailed for the annual sports and axemen’s carnival held at Te Kopuru yesterday. The meeting was a general success. Mr. X). A. Savident (secretary) and the committee leaving no stone unturned to ensure this end. The following are the results:— AXEMEN’S EVENTS Novice Chop Handicap.—O. Dunn, 1: iu. Nidd, 2. Three starters. Won easily. Maiden Chop. 12in.—H. Fischer. 1; A Williams, 2. Four starters. Won easily. Placed men were only two to finish. Standing Chop Handicap, 12in.—H. Fischer (18s), 1; R. Switzer (16s), 2. Five starters, other competitors unfinished. Won by a blow. Underhand Chop Handicap, 12in.—R. Switzer (16s), 1: A. Williams (16s). 2; O. Blowes (14s), 3. Seven starters. Won easily. Maiden Saw, Double-handed, 14in.—R. Switzer and E. Kidd, 1; J. Elliott and T. Lethbridge, 2. Only starters. Won easily. Handicap Saw, Double-handed, 14in.— W. H. Brown and K. Meier (3s). 1; J. Elliott and T. Lethbridge (ss), 2; E. Kidd and A. Bassett, 3. Four starters. Champion Saw, Double-handed, 14in., two cuts.—O. Blowes and A. Williams. 1; K. Meier and W. H. Brown, 2. Three starters.
