TWO AIRMEN HONOURED

WILKINS AND HIS PILOT EXPLORERS AT HAVANA (Australian and. jV .. Press Association} WASHINGTON, Saturday. The Secretary of Commerce, Mr. R. P. Lamont, announces that the Honour Medal, for distinguished aeronautical achievements in 1928, has been awarded to Sir Hubert Wilkins and the Harmon trophy to his pilot, Lieutenant Carl Eielson. A message from Havana says Sir Hubert has arrived there. The President of Cuba, General Gerardo Machado, in the name of the Cuban Geographical Society, at a special session, presented the explorer with a gold medal and a diploma of membership in recognition of his Polar achievements.
