MOTOR LORRY OVERTURNS CAR DAMAGED BY TIDE Two mishaps occurred at the Muriwai Beach over the w'eek-end. On Saturday, Messrs. S. Aldred and A. Camp were on their way up the beach in a motor lorry with some of the official gear for the motor sports when one of the front wheels of the lorry collapsed. The iorry overturned and S. Aldred suffered a cracked rib and Camp a dislocated shoulder. They w'ere attended to by Dr. Harris, the honorary surgeon to the Motor Racing Club and members of the St. John Ambulance.
While driving his Alvis Tourer up the Muriwai Beach on Saturday. Mr. J. McCullough, of Auckland, struck some soft sand 16 miles up the beach where no assistance was available and had to abandon his car to the incoming tide. Yesterday afternoon Mr. J. Wishart, of Papakura, and a party of half a dozen persons found the car in a shocking state after its immersion in two tides, for it appeared to have been rolled over by the breakers. The car was then brought down the beach and was towed into the city last evening.
