UNEMPLOYED AT THAMES
POSITION BECOMING ACUTE (From Our Otcn Correspondent) THAMES, Monday. Unemployment is making itself felt In Thames, and Mr. R. Lloyd, of the local branch of the Labour Department, reports that 50 names of unemployed men are on the books. The greater proportion of the applicants are married men. The department has scoured the district to find positions for the applicants, but without result. There seems to be no likelihood of work being offered, and many of the families are in a bad position. The deputy-chairman. Mr. J. W. Danby, of the Charitable Aid Hoard, states that relief is being afforded in many but he predicts that the position will probably be more acute in the near future.
