Burglars Burst Safe and Steal £SO in Cash

VISIT TO TWO SHOPS EARLY MORNING EXPLOSION (From Our Own Correspondent) PAPAKURA, To-day. Burglars broke into the shop of Hawthorn and Munro, butchers, and Mr. C. B. Earle, grocer, at Broadway, Papakura, in the early Hours of this morning. They used explosives and secured over £SO. Entrance to the butchers’ shop was sained by a side door. The safe was blown open and £SO in cash was stolen. At Mr. Earle’s shop a yale lock was blown off the door, splinters of the door being found on the other side of the road. A padlock on the door was evidently opened with a key. A sum of £2 19s Gd was taken from the till, but it is not yet known whether any of the stock has been taken. Residents in Broadway heard a loud muffled explosion at about three o’clock this morning, but attributed it to a bursting tyre.
