GOVERNMENT’S DECISION UNIFORM GRADING SCHEME Pres* A ssocia tion WELLINGTON, Friday. A letter of instruction has been forwarded by Sir Joseph Ward to all departments that New Zealand timber is to be used so far as is possible for departmental purposes. The preparation of a uniform grading and classification scheme has been completed, and will be put into operation forthwith, by millers who have undertaken to supply the departments with timber cut true to grade, sizes and properly seasoned. The scheme follows closely the practice adopted in other countries, notablv the United States, and Canada, which has been so successful in building up local and export marketc.
