Only Two More A.C.A. Matches University to Meet Parnell
THE 19-8-29 cricket season is now nearing a close. Only two more matches in the Auckland Cricket Association s senior A grade competition are to be played, and the first of these commences to-morrow. The tight for the championship has been very keen this year, and to-morrow’s games, the chief of which is the meeting of Varsity and Parnell, should maintain the past standard.
THE students’ team has undergone many alterations since the beginning of the season, but the places of such men as Dunning have been, tilled by promising colts. Lunn especially has been very successful with the but in recent games, while Browne promises to develop into a representative wicketkeeper. Parnell also has been strengthened by tlio inclusion of Whitelaw. and with Anthony in his usual splendid form and Doc. Aitken hitting like lie did last Saturday, the match on the main arena promises to be a close one. Ponsonby and Grafton are down to play on number 2 wicket, and there again a good even tight should result, with the odds if anything on Ponsonby, in view of Grafton’s erratic performances of late. The return to form of captain Snedden after a very lean season will bring reassurance to Ponsonby supporters. Eden, and United Suburbs will light it out on No. 3 wicket, where nothing short of the phenomenal can give United Suburbs the victory. Bowley will be over nt Dev art.. doing battle for Y.M.C.A. against North The Young Men have developed such a reputation for big scoring of I*to that tho odds appear to favour the visitors.
