A children’s fancy dress ball was held in the Oue Public Hall, and was a great success. The floor was in good order and excellent music was supplied by the Rawene Aloha Orchestra, while Miss Mary Brockliss supplied the extras. Mr. Howard Whitefield, Mrs. Cox and Miss Bawdon judged the dresses and awarded the following prizes:—Best dressed girl, Maisie Nesbitt (Anzac): most original dress, Margaret Ting (Christmas tree); best dressed boy, Dick Brockliss (pierrot); most original boy, Lomond Lup, (Indian), 1; J. Baker (sailor), 2; small girls’ prettiest dress, Olive Whitefield (fairy). Some of the othei' costumes "were: Jean Jennings (Persian dancer), Joy Jennings (Kate Greenaway), June Clement (strawberry).
