NEW TRANSPORT BOARD

CONSTITUTION DISCUSSED Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. The constitution of the new Transport Board was discussed at a conference of the North and South Island Motor Unions to-day. It was decided to-ask that the constitution be amended so that the board consists of a chairman, to be appointed by the Government, one representative each for the North anti South Island Motor Unions, the Counties’ Association, the Municipal Association, the New Zealand Master Carriers and omnibus and service car proprietors combined, and the wholesale and retail motor trade. The Motor Unions further resolved it should recommended to the Minister that each of the different bodies who are to constitute the Advisory Board bo entitled to nominate a transport commissioner. Strong recommendation is to be made to the Minister of the motorists’ demand or a reduction of the heavy taxation on them.
