WAIKATO EXPECTANT
WHAT WILL HAPPEN AT SYNOD? VESTRY SUPPORTS DEAN (Special to TJdjkJ SUN) HAMILTON, Wednesday. Waikato Anglicans are keenly interested rn the special session of synod, which Bishop Cherrington has convened for next Tuesday. No announcement lias been made regarding the nature of the business to be discussed, though there is a ven general impression that it concerns tn differences between the Bishop in' l Dean Barnett. Colour is lent to by the fact that synodsmen nave beer, directed to make themselves ffnalic with conditions in ttheir respective parishes, and have also been invutn to nominate anyone who wishes to speak at synod. It seems highly improbable that there will be any election to fill tj* vacancy on synod caused by the dea> of Mr. O. R. Farrer. Nominations cws* on Saturday, and so far the only candidate is Mr. H. M. Hammond. St. Peter’s vestry this week, by ew votes to two, decided to support V& Barnett in his action in refusing - obey Bishop Cherrington’s resign. Similar resolutions have Deepassed by Claudelands, Gordonton ar.J Hamilton East church committees.
