SALESMAN’S CLEVER RUSE
THREE MONTHS’ GAOL
After a short respite spent in gaol Robert Vernon has again put into operation the scheme by which he has defrauded more than a few solicitors in the Auckland Province.
His success in extracting £5 from a city solicitor was rather tempered hv his appearance in the Police Court dork this morning. Vernon, a salesman aged 31, was charged with obtaining £5 by fraud from Mr. Hall Skelton, representing T hat he was R. Olsen, a land agent, a nd that lie had recently sold a farm to a Mr. Quinn for £4,750. Mr. W. ''•King entered a plea of guilty. According to Mr. King, Vernon had held a good position in Te Aroha. the firm had unfortunately closed its branch there and he had yielded to lem Ptation.
