QUEEN -STREET ATTRACTION GOVERNMENT’S ENTERPRISE Screening this week, “Arapuni,” at Government Tourist Booking Office. A film depicting the journey of an amateur cinematographer through that interesting Waikato district. The footpath outside the Government Office was filled to the kerb as a novel form of advertising was displayed in the huge window. Mr. Hugh G. Kendal, who has the contract for keeping the public in touch with the possibilities and advantages of rail travel, is responsible for introducing the cinema novelty to Queen Street. “The film itself was taken by an amateur who had had his camera only a few weeks,” said Mr. Kendal to a Sun man. “The width of the film is 16 millimetres, and the projector weighs a total of 71b. It will magnify images on to a screen up to 2ft by Ift. The amateur cameraman’s tour through the Arapuni scenery was . followed by hundreds of people as shots were shown depicting the gorge, dam, spillway, lake, and power-house. The 100 feet of continuous film of Arapuni takes 41 minutes to run through.
