MANCHESTER UNITY
ODDFELLOWS TO MEET DISTRICT’S GOOD PROGRESS The annual conference of Oddfellows of the Manchester Unity in the Auckland district will open next Wednesday morning in the new hall at the corner of l-iobson and Victoria Streets. It is expected that 102 delegates, representing 60 lodges of tlic district, extending from Hokianga in the north, down to Gisborne and Owhango, will attend.
Tho District Grand Master, Bro. Walter Gubb, of Tuakau, will preside. Deputy-Grand Master Dru. Fred Best (Hamilton), Bro. John McLeod, grand secretary, and Bro. John Clark, district treasurer, are other district officers who will be present. A number of important olticers will attend. These include Bro.. F. Pritchard (Ashburton), Grand Master of the New Zealand branch; Bro. H. S. M. Quigley (Dannevirke), Deputy-Grand Master, and Bro. A. G. Shrimpton (Wellington), Grand Secretary. These three officers wil instlall the new district officers at an open function to be held in the Manchester Unity Hall next Thursday evening. The Auckland district has made wonderful progress during the past 1months, having increased the membership by 344. During the year tlr’ Otorohanga Lodge was reopened and 'e opening of the new lodge at YVa'* uku was successfully bringing the total to GO lodges in the district with a membership of 7,131. Since the Great War, membership has increased by over 4,000. ...
